~1820 Sewing Roll~ It's hard to tell in the picture but the linen is a nice pale blue. Of course I've aged it a bit but it's still fantastic. I chose a good peacock blue floss and an old moss color floss for this design. The bands are from an early German sampler that I just love. And the flower urns are modified a bit from the same old sampler. At the bottom of the Sewing Roll I added a little pocket. It's lined with a great green and tan check homespun.
I love the blue cotton and the green homespun together.....it's good and fresh for summer.
I've finished all the seams with tiny little X's and it ties closed with a piece of green silk ribbon.
The outside of the Roll is a nice reproduction blue cotton The Roll measures 5 1/4" wide by 16 3/4" long folded open. This is one of my signed and dated original designs. SOLD

~Peacock Sewing Roll~ Love this Sewing Roll....I love the 2 different linens and I can't wait to stitch another one. The light color linen is from the same piece as the 1820 Sewing Roll....it's a real pale blue. And the darker linen is hand dyed by Weeks. Each piece is so different....the stitch count, the color, even the texture. But I love pairing them together. The peacocks are so elegant and the letters are nice and primitive.
I chose a pale soldier blue floss and paired it with a moss green floss.
I continued the band across the bottom of both linens and I finished the seams with tiny little X's.
The outside of the Roll is a good drab brown silk matka. I washed the matka for a nice worn look and I aged the piece lightly with walnut dye.
And just for a little sweetness I added a little blue wool heart.
It folds closed and ties with brown silk ribbon. The Roll measures 5 " wide by 13 1/2" long folded open. This is one of my signed and dated original designs. SOLD

I've stuffed the pinkeep with sawdust and finished the seams with tiny little X's.
The back is a nice piece of drab brown silk matka. It measures 4" wide by 6" high. This is one of my signed and dated original designs. SOLD

~Spotted Hare Pinkeep Drum w/ velvet Carrots~ So sweet.....this is just a really sweet design. I actually taught this class at Country Sampler in the early Spring.
The 3 little carrots are made from hand dyed velvet that has been nicely worn and aged. And the carrot tops are pieces of frayed green wool. I've tied the carrots to the top of the drum but they can be removed easily.
And here's the little spotted hare.....filling his basket full of Spring flowers.
The other side of the drum has this sweet little flower urn. The drum is filled with sawdust and I've finished the seams with tiny little X's. The drum measures 3 1/2" in diameter by 4 1/2" high. And the Velvet Carrots measure 3/4" in diameter by 6 1/2" long. This is one of my signed and dated original designs. SOLD |

On the left side of the drum is a little urn of flowers.
And on the right side is another sweet little urn of flowers.
The top and bottom of the drum is a nice blue check homespun. I've stuffed the drum with sawdust and finished all the seams with tiny little X's.
